Education at Sandy Mount

At Sandy Mount, there are many ways to grow deeper in our faith.  From Sunday School for all ages to Disciple Bible Study, to small group studies, we are committed to offering a wide variety of opportunities for you to encounter and learn about our Triune God. 

Sunday School/Growth Hour

Sandy Mount UMC offers Sunday School for all ages from 10:10AM to 11:10AM.  Sunday classes offered are:

Nursery (6 month to 3 years old).  The nursery opens at 9:00AM on Sundays. 

Pre-K/Kindergarten (3 years to 5 years old).  Contact Donna Moffett or Debby Stone

Grades 1 & 2.  Contact Michele Barone

Adult Classes -

Bill Boyer "The Journey -- an Advent Study" The Old Timers will focus on traditional Christian beliefs and worship practices.  The class determines the discussion topics.  All ages are welcome.  

Ken Hasenei “Living the Extraordinary Life: Exploring Contemporary Christian Issues” The class will cover contemporary Christian issues, world events and how to experience the extraordinary life that Christ intended. Topics will include: How to have a purpose driven life, happiness, grace, biblical healing, prayer, sex, salvation, the Holy Spirit in your life, peace, spiritual gifts, marriage, world events, finances, knowing God, prophecy, spiritual warfare, Heaven and Hell, what happens when you die, discipleship, determining God's will for your life and other important topics.

Sherri Wahlgren “The Journey -- an Advent Study"

Travis Harry and Jill Centofanti "Holding it all Together" This is a class for parents of young families with children from infants to 5th grade. We will be using the Bible, articles, discussions and lessons to help parents promote God centered families and use this to grow loving and caring families in the church.

 Additional Youth and Adult Bible Studies

Senior High Bible Bash.  3rd Sundays at 5:30PM.  Contact Susan Harry

Women's Bible Study.  3rd Thursdays.  Contact Audrey Boyle

Adult Bible Study.  Last 2 Sundays of the month 11:15 to 12 - 1st Peter thru Revelation.  Contact Doug Brooks

Thursday Night Bible Study.  Thursday evenings at 7:30PM.  Contact Doug Brooks

 Small Group Opportunities

New Member Classes. Offered several times a year, they consist of three sessions each lasting about 90 minutes each.  The class covers United Methodist history, theological beliefs, and Methodist connectionalism.  Class participants will become better acquainted not only with the United Methodist Church, but also with Sandy Mount UMC, its program offerings, and its leaders.  This is also a wonderful opportunity for our current members to refresh their knowledge of our church's Wesleyan roots!  Contact Rev. Coffee with the Pastor. Offered several times a year, these informal series of topical conversations take place on Sunday evenings.  Recent conversations have covered parenting and marriage, the Seven Deadly Sins, Lenten reflections, the United Methodist Social Principles.
