StaffSenior Pastor: Rev. Bill Maisch Bill is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. He served as senior pastor of Dickerson UMC, Forest Grove UMC, and Clarksburg UMC prior to being appointed to Sandy Mount UMC in 2008. His passions for ministry include preaching, teaching, counseling, leading worship, mentoring, mission trips, and helping churches expand their vision from membership to discipleship. He holds a bachelor degree with a double major in chemistry and physics, and four master degrees (business administration, international relations, national security policy development, and divinity). He served as a clergy member of the Baltimore-Washington Conference Board of Discipleship. He serves as chaplain for the Maryland State Police Academy, and formerly served as Director for the Interfaith Committee Against Domestic Violence (IFCADV). Bill was the 2011 recipient of IFCADV's Clergy Leadership Award. He is a retired US Air Force officer and combat pilot. Bill serves on the Carroll County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council. He and his wife Jill live in Damascus, MD and together have six children (five daughters, one son) and one dog. Jill has taught science and math in Montgomery County public schools for over 34 years. She serves as the Baltimore-Washington Conference's Western Region Volunteers-in-Mission Coordinator and is a published Christian writer. Prior to retiring in 2005, Bill served as pastor of Prospect-Marvin UMC, Sandy Mount UMC, and Silver Spring: Oak Chapel UMC. Currently, Bill preaches, leads worship, and teaches Disciple Bible study in addition to singing in the Chancel Choir, and is a published writer. Bill and his wife Mary live in Westminster, MD. Bill may be reached at sandymtumc@comcast.net Local Pastor, Retired: Dave Pyle Dave served as lay pastor or interim lay pastor at several churches. At Sandy Mount, Dave helps coordinate service work at the New Windsor Brethren Center, sings in One Accord (men's chorus), and preaches. Dave has a master's degree in human growth and development with over 60 additional graduate credits. He is retired from the Baltimore County School System where he served as supervisor of elementary schools and science/environmental education. Dave helped establish and served as the executive director of the Northeast Social Action Program (NESAP), an ecumenical organization in ministry to the needy. Dave may be reached at sandymtumc@comcast.net Local Lay Speaker and Lay Leader: Doug Brooks Doug has attended Sandy Mount UMC since the age of 9 and became a professing member of the church at 13. Answering God’s call to teaching and preaching, Doug completed the United Methodist Basic Lay Speaking Course in 2008. Doug preaches, leads worship, is a member of Praising Grace (praise group) and One Accord (men’s chorus), and serves (beginning Jan 1) as Sandy Mount UMC's Lay Leader. Director of Youth Ministry and Local Lay Speaker: Susan Harry Susan grew up in Baltimore County, MD where she served as the volunteer Sr. High youth leader at a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. Susan volunteered with Minneapolis based organization 'Youth Encounter' and through this ministry participated in youth conferences and music ministry events aimed at strengthening youths’ relationship with Christ “in their way." She attended Catonsville Community College and majored in recreation, parks, and tourism. She is currently pursuing certification in youth ministry through Princeton University. Susan worked in Nursing and Rehab Facilities providing recreational therapy. She worked for Howard County Recreation and Parks for eight years in the Senior Adult, Special Events, and the Therapeutic Recreation sections. She currently works part time for Howard County. Susan served as volunteer Sr. High youth leader, youth focus group chair, and taught confirmation from 1999 to 2001. Susan has served as the Sr. High Youth Ministry Director since 2005. She loves history and the arts. Susan lives in Carroll County with her husband, Travis and their two daughters. She believes youth are full members of the church of today as well as the church of the future! In addition to leading Sandy Mount's Praise Team, she also accompanies the Chancel Choir. Lynne has music degrees from University of Maryland and San Francisco Conservatory of Music as well as teaching credentials from Towson State University. A busy wife and mother of 5 boys, Lynne teaches elementary music in Carroll County public schools.
