Sandy Mount United Methodist Church is excited to announce that we are making some updates to our COVID-19 protocols and policies based on the most recent recommendations from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and Maryland’s Governor Hogan.

The following changes will take place for Sandy Mount United Methodist Church effective Sunday, May 23, 2021.

  1. MASK REQUIREMENT – Those who have not yet been able to receive vaccination must continue to wear a mask at all times in the church building. For those who are fully vaccinated, masks are now optional. (Exception: Any adult working directly with children/youth must wear a mask even if fully vaccinated.)
  2. CONGREGATIONAL SINGING & PRAYERS – Congregants are invited to participate in congregational singing and prayers as they feel comfortable. Socially distanced seating in the pews will be maintained in accordance with current best practices for safe communal singing.
  3. COMMUNION – Communion on the first Sunday of each month will continue to be celebrated using an individual, sealed wafer and cup.

The safety of our church family members and visitors continues to be Sandy Mount United Methodist Church’s top priority. We ask everyone’s cooperation and understanding during this transition.

Thank you and God bless,

Sandy Mount Reopening Safety Committee
