Will you help “Scout for Food”?

On Boy Scout Sunday, February 2nd, the Scouts sponsored by our church will be asking us to join them “Scouting for food.” Many of you are familiar with this annual project.  The Scouts leave grocery bags at your home to be filled and return to collect them.

We will be getting a head start by beginning to collect food in February.  The actual event is not until April.  There will be a designated place in the church for your grocery items.  We will collect February 9 – April 6.

When the Scouts begin to distribute the grocery bags in April, you may get one at your home.  If so, bring the empty bag to church where it will be filled with the food we have collected.

All of the food collected by the Scouts is donated to Carroll County Food Sunday, a non-profit organization that supports Carroll County residents in meeting their emergency and supplemental food needs.  Carroll Food Sunday distributes a weekly, nutritionally balanced grocery package that is predicated on the household size and is meant to last 3-4 days.  Over 400 families are served each week by CCFS.  The current list of recommended donations is as follows:

  • Canned Fruit
  • Hot or Cold Cereal
  • Canned Vegetables
  • Canned Tuna, Chicken, Salmon
  • Plain Rice
  • Canned Soup
  • Spaghetti in one pound boxes
  • Peanut Butter, Canned Beans
  • Tomato Sauce

Please join our Scouts to make this year’s collection of food the best ever.  If each of us brings one item each Sunday during the collection period, we could make a BIG difference.

Thanks for your support,

The Outreach Committee
